Volvo’s greatly anticipated XC90 SUV is now available for purchase in the Southern African market. If you are shopping around for a new SUV then have a read through these attracting features;
The new XC90 offers an extremely spacious and modern interior with three rows of very habitable seats. It’s also endlessly versatile, thanks to any number of sliding, reclining and folding permutations. All seats have a surprisingly good view out too, thanks to their careful ‘theatre’ positioning and glassy sides. Big on the outside, even bigger on the inside!
Different engine specs to choose from. The D5 diesel makes a handy 165kW. The T6 petrol has a supercharger and a turbo, for a stout 235kW, both those engines come with normal mechanical four-wheel-drive. There is however a third option on offer, the top end XC90 model being the T8, This pairs the same 235kW petrol with an electric drive to the rear. By doing away with the propshaft there’s room in the spine of the car for a plug-in hybrid battery. Result is 300kW performance in one mode, and up to 40km of pure EV range in another.
